idol5 men
(Remember that this is the first year I've watched, so treat my comments with kindness.) Of the 12 men who sang, I swear only five were actually on key. What's with that? And why didn't Randy or Paula mention anything about it, leaving Simon to be the only realist? That's the 'schtick', I guess. Anyway, I'll be interested to see who gets booted. I'm guessing that's not a great feeling. On the other hand, when Simon compliments someone as warmly as he did Taylor Hicks, it's a real kick.

I didn't see last night's episode but that seems like a good review. And that is part of the 'schtick' I think too. Cool post. Also, I'm sorry that I missed your birthday and I hope that you had a wonderful birthday.

Thank you for your comments, very kind CC'er. One of your readers did send me a greeting on 2/13, however, which was a lovely surprise.

So who do you think will/should win on AI? (And is it mere coincidence that "AI" also means artificial intelligence?!)

As a longtime observer of AI, though no longer a watcher, I can tell you that the "judges" are rarely there to provide real assessment of the talent. They are there to advance or retard contestants for the purposes of providing good television. You will also see that Simon often praises only to turn on a contestant later when he deems it's time for that contestant to go. Sometimes this produces an opposite reaction and people just vote harder for that person, but that can be part of the plan also cause it makes controversy and higher ratings.
