Fridays at work
Someone walked by my desk yesterday and said they think it's weird how they always feel better on Friday than any other day. On the one hand I appreciate his enthusiasm but on the other I hate that sense of work week vs. weekend. What do you think?

Maybe I'm weird, but I feel better on Mondays than I do on Fridays.

That may be partly because I'm in academia and I really like my work (and feel it's more a vocation than a job). However, it may also be that by Friday I've "given" so much I'm worn out and need to recharge over the weekend - so on Mondays I'm ready to go with more energy again.

Actually, I agree with you! Recently, I find myself more grateful for down time than I used to. I need at least one day to focus on things I want to do without any immediate pay-off (knitting, blogging, reading, watching movies, etc.) and the dreaded laundry and housework of course. We really need 36-hour days or 8-day weeks!

I've spent years working 7 days a week, too. Only the last 12 or so have I had the luxury of official weekends. I guess one unfortunate side effect is that the time for oneself is addicting.
