apologies
Sorry for the mess of this page, this morning. I made one very small change last night, in an attempt to restore a sleeker, more minimalistic look and all of that proverbial hell broke loose. I've made one attempt this morning to fix things but with very little success, and I can't get back to it for several hours. Feel free to rant and rave and tell me how annoying it is. I agree with you!

Oh, thank you! I think some of my problem is that various firewalls make it look one way to me when it really looks another. I was at my daughter's over the weekend and it looked SO different. That's kind of what precipitated this - that, and your kind observations.

I don't know about firewall effects, but outdated browsers can throw the look off a lot. I went to a wedding in Virginia and checked my site on a home computer and another one at a hotel and couldn't believe how crazy it looked. When I got back home it was "back" to normal. All three computers had Windows but old and new versions and different versions of IE as well.

Boy is that the truth! I was home yesterday and went at the fonts and lightened things up, etc., etc. Furthermore, I deliberately used what one chart called "safe" colors and fonts. Well, this morning at work, I see some crazy things. It's weird that it's not more nail-down-able!
