quiet from white house
Is it just because the panting Democrats are making a lot of noise, or has GWB been very very quiet recently? I am among those who prefer a President guided by his principles to one driven by polls or personal urges. But part of what I've liked is that he has spoken up, clearly, often. (I suppose this speaks of Rudy, for me, doesn't it.)

Do you think Newt is unelectable? I'm not sure. Maybe he'll be Rudy's vp - that would be something.

If you find out why the quietness from 1600 before I do, let me know, okay?

I think Newt is kinda unelectable too. That whole "Contract with America" thing that flopped, plus his personal life is iffy, but then so is Rudy's. And yes, personal life matters to me as a matter of personal integrity.

But anyway, yeah, it's been quiet, but what can he really say right now? Maybe it's better to let the Dems shoot their mouths off and make idiots of themselves right now?

Bush doesn't seem to me to be quieter than usual. He's just a very poor communicator, and his war policy has suffered because of it. In Texas, he didn't have to be talkative. We prefer our governors to be seen but not heard. As for Rudy, who I hope gets the nomination, he'd do better at being elected, maybe, if somebody like Lieberman was his veep.

Neither party seems to have candidates that are electable at the moment. How many conservatives will Hillary be able to attract? Zero. Plus, she has some very irritating personality characteristics. Oboma can't win to due to being too inexperienced, too liberal and, sadly, too much racism still in our country.

I'm not crazy, yet, about any of the Republicans yet but Gingrich would interest me. But, as ligneus says, Gingrich isn't electable either.

I definitely don't like McCain. Rudy might be OK but I need to know more about his position on gun control and abortion. I'm also curious about Romney.

Good point, ligneus. Jeb Bush seems serious, rational, calm, principled . . . but would the country even remotely accept another Bush right now? Aren't there any other calm, principled possibilities?

Good point, ligneus. I do remember that, and even entertained the thought a Hillary vs. Condi race might possibly be interesting. I hate that this group of people - whom I've viewed as unswayably strong and sure of themselves - are being cowed by the negative yelling and screaming in the press, but that's what it seems like.
