What's everyone so scared of?
I've been reading various blogs and news sites and websites, and the comments are unbelievably strange. What's everyone so afraid of that they're so angry about/at Obama? What difference does it make that his background is a great big mishmosh? It's not as if anyone who's been president in the last fifty years or so has been such a paragon of virtue and marvelous character. Besides, the president's main role is to foster an atmosphere. There's a chance that Obama would engender a positive mood, a sense of revival and positive energy, after all.

But the people Obama has surrounded himself with are full of nothing but negative energy - from the former pastor of his church, to the intellectual elites who have committed actual acts of terrorism in this country and gotten away with it. Even Obama's wife has been negative about this country, when someone who has lived a life as privileged as she should love it.

Part of the problem is that he sold himself to the party as the harbinger of a New Day, when all the old rules of petty politics would be swept away.

And then, of course, we found out that he was perfectly willing to play by those same rules himself when pressed.

So it's really a form of disappointment: he set the bar high, and then made only perfunctory attempts to clear it.

Both of you make really good points - thank you! My son feels that Obama is a triumph of advertising and that although he implies good things there isn't a shred of evidence to suggest it's real. Which I guess is another way of saying what you're saying.

Now I'm depressed.

The Obama campaign is very reminiscent of the charlatan Trudeau here in Canada in the sixties, something that we have yet to recover from. For instance the Human Rights Courts which are the direct result of his multi culturism and his charter of rights and freedoms. They just tried to prosecute Macleans Magazine and Mark Stein then finding they'd bitten off a bit more than they thought, backed off.

Check out this article at Real Clear Politics. That his slickness can give you reasons to support him shows how dangerous he is. He has nothing, absolutely nothing to make him worthy of being POTUS. He follows in the long line of Dem fools, Dukakis, Mondale, Carter, Kerry. Where do they keep finding them?
I should add Clinton to that list too, both of them actually, which brings to mind another trait of the Dem candidates, their nastiness. The Rep candidates are for the most part that old fashioned English type, gentlemen.
